How it all began....
My journey into motherhood has been a marvelous, wonderful, intense and sometimes difficult journey. At the core of this experience is the amazing support I received during the pregnancy and birth of my two children.
I believe every woman deserves to feel the positive nature of birth. I encourage women to take an active role in their care, learning to understand their bodies and their babies.
Attending births since 2003, I am dedicated to supporting women in the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of birth.
Trained as an ALACE doula (ToLabor) I bring knowledge of all major birthing philosophies and hold a BA in English from Virginia Commonwealth University. Studying under Helena Wu and Corinna Wood, I offer holistic care with a focus on herbs and natural remedies.

What is a Doula?
A birth doula or labor assistant is trained to help mothers by:

*providing continuous labor support at home and in the hospital/birthing center
*being an experienced liaison with medical staff
accessing information she desires to make informed decisions
*helping their partners to participate fully and confidently
*providing immediate breastfeeding support and postpartum care
*Research evidence shows that women using a birth doula/labor assistant experience:
fewer cesarean sections
shorter labors
decrease in use of pain medications and epidurals
better mother-baby bonding
easier breastfeeding
